Job description

Role Overview

As a Customer Delivery Driver for Tesco in Llanelli, you represent the company while engaging directly with customers at their homes. This role involves far more than just driving; it requires providing friendly, reliable service and assisting customers with their orders. The job is active, varied, and demands independence, supported by a team available for assistance when necessary.

Working Hours

  • Sunday: 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
  • Tuesday: 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM
  • Thursday: 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM

Key Duties

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of your delivery van, trays, and workspace to ensure groceries arrive in excellent condition.
  • Safely load the vehicle and perform necessary checks to guarantee roadworthiness and reliability before starting deliveries.
  • Communicate casually and reassuringly with customers about any order adjustments, substitutions, or perishable items, offering refunds where necessary to maintain satisfaction.
  • Handle merchandise carefully, treating every order as if it were your own to preserve quality and trust.
  • Deliver goods punctually within the customer's designated time frame, providing warm and genuine service at their doorstep.

Candidate Requirements

  • Possess a valid UK/EU/EEA driving license (manual or automatic) held for at least one year with no more than three penalty points.
  • Establish positive relationships with coworkers to foster teamwork and achieve excellent customer service.
  • Exhibit a friendly and approachable demeanor with both customers and colleagues.
  • Adapt quickly to evolving customer needs and workplace changes both during deliveries and at the base store.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Starting salary of £14.18 per hour, increasing to £15.45 per hour within locations inside the M25, with some sites offering additional pay.
  • A guaranteed minimum of 16 hours per week, with options as low as 12 hours available.
  • Starting holiday entitlement of 20 days plus one personal day, rising to 22 days after a year of service, alongside bank holidays.
