Role overview
STS Group is looking for a CSA Estimator to join its Transmission & Distribution team in Cork. This position focuses on building precise, commercially strong cost estimates for high-voltage substation and grid connection work. The role calls for a blend of technical understanding, commercial judgment, and analytical discipline, while working closely with engineering, planning, and procurement colleagues.
Key responsibilities
- Examine RFQs to clearly understand the project scope, technical requirements, and tender conditions.
- Assess employer requirements so that all scope items and compliance needs are reflected in the tender submission.
- Carry out site inspections when needed to evaluate conditions and any project-specific limitations.
- Measure quantities from drawings and prepare internal Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
- Work with the estimating team to price civil, structural, and architectural (CSA) work accurately.
- Prepare and send RFQs for materials and subcontract packages to secure competitive pricing.
- Review supplier and subcontractor quotations for technical fit, commercial value, and overall competitiveness.
- Coordinate with project planners to produce detailed tender programmes for civil works.
- Assist in transferring successful bids to the Operations team with clear handover information.
- Join pre-bid and post-bid discussions with clients and stakeholders when required.
Experience and qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience in CSA estimating.
- Strong background in estimating for high-voltage substations and grid connection projects.
- Ability to read, interpret, and work confidently from drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Good commercial awareness supported by strong numerical and analytical ability.
- Competence with Microsoft Office and estimating software used in the role.
- Clear communication and strong interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to travel for site visits and project meetings as needed.
