Role Purpose
The Creative Director, Digital Experience, is tasked with overseeing the creative direction of Under Armour’s digital products integrated within the Omni-Channel ecosystem. Reporting to the Head of Global Brand Experience, this role collaborates with internal and external partners to define strategy, design, and brand guidelines for platforms including UA.com, UA mobile app, digital media, retail, and wholesale channels. Responsibilities also include leading initiatives related to Customization, Personalization, and Loyalty, ensuring a cohesive and captivating omni-channel user experience across the brand's digital footprint.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and inspire a multi-disciplinary creative team comprising art directors, designers, and writers to elevate UA’s digital experience focusing on athlete-centric design.
- Create engaging, brand-consistent, consumer-first creative content and executions from initial concept through to high-quality final deliverables.
- Balance brand integrity with commercial priorities to deliver impactful solutions.
- Ensure work quality meets business objectives while maintaining distinctiveness in the industry.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Brand Creatives, Marketing, CI, CX, UX/UI teams to develop connected and meaningful digital content and experiences.
- Oversee development and leadership of a unified UA digital design system in partnership with UX and Retail.
- Build and sustain positive relationships across global and regional teams and functions.
- Mentor team members to help them reach their fullest creative potential.
- Contribute to fostering a strong creative culture and continuously improve operational processes.
- Stay informed about cultural trends to ensure relevance and inspire creative direction.
- Keep abreast of technological advancements to drive innovation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Art or related field with approximately 12 years of relevant experience; alternatively, a Master’s degree with about 10 years’ experience; or 16 years of relevant experience without a degree.
- A minimum of 6 years' experience in management or equivalent expertise as a subject matter leader.
- Extensive background leading omni-channel campaign development, with at least 5 years demonstrating leadership in digital domains.
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and AI design tools.
- Solid experience in user experience design encompassing UX, interaction, motion design, technology, and usability.
- Track record of succeeding in fast-paced, growth-oriented environments handling complex, time-sensitive projects.
- Passion for sports, with a strong understanding of athlete-focused mindsets.
- Exceptional design skillset, creativity, and curiosity with command over visual systems and digital technology.
- Strategic thinker skilled in data-driven decision making and knowledgeable of Omni-Channel ecosystems and customer journeys.
- Effective communicator able to navigate ambiguity and engage in transparent dialogue.
- A proactive leader who leads by example and is hands-on when required.
- Awareness of global and regional cultural nuances.
- Creative problem solver blending art and technology to resolve challenges elegantly.
- Expert in guiding and inspiring creative teams with strong influencing and negotiation skills.
- Ability to prototype rapidly and visualize ideas in real time.
- Experienced managing multiple creative teams and agencies simultaneously.
Workplace Details
- Position based in Baltimore, MD headquarters; candidates must live within commuting distance.
- The role requires a hybrid schedule with 4 days per week onsite.
- Anticipated travel is approximately 5-10% annually.
- The company is currently unable to sponsor work visas for this role.
- Relocation assistance may be considered.
Compensation
The annual base salary range is $155,000 to $200,000 USD. Placement within this range depends on individual skills, knowledge, and experience. Compensation is part of a competitive Total Rewards package supporting career advancement.
