This is a fixed-term opportunity lasting 2-3 months, with an ideal start date within the next few weeks. Candidates interested in full-time, part-time or flexible working patterns are welcome to apply.

The role is based at the company’s riverside head office in Lewes, East Sussex.

Role overview

Ancient + Brave is seeking a Copywriter who can bring clarity, energy and precision to a wide range of written work, from brand storytelling and campaign concepts through to direct response and paid media copy.

This position spans both creative brand writing and performance-focused copy. The right person will be able to craft memorable campaign messaging while also producing persuasive content that supports conversion and testing. The aim is to create copy that feels authentic to the brand and also drives commercial results.

You will work closely with the Brand, Creative and Performance Marketing teams to ensure every piece of writing is consistent, distinctive and effective across channels.

Key responsibilities

Campaign writing

  • Create engaging copy for brand and seasonal campaigns, including headlines, narrative concepts, longer-form editorial and supporting content.
  • Build messaging frameworks and copy routes that can be adapted across multiple channels.
  • Partner with the Brand and Campaign teams to turn creative ideas into strong written concepts.
  • Write copy for new product launches, brand activations and key seasonal moments while keeping the tone consistent across all touchpoints.

Performance copywriting

  • Develop attention-grabbing copy for paid social advertising on Meta and TikTok, including hooks, headlines, body copy and calls to action.
  • Produce multiple copy options in volume to support testing and ongoing optimisation.
  • Write conversion-led content for email campaigns, landing pages and product detail pages.
  • Tailor tone, structure and messaging for different audiences, platforms and funnel stages.

Tone of voice and brand writing

  • Act as a steward of the brand’s tone of voice across all written material.
  • Turn complex product benefits, ingredients and brand values into copy that feels clear, human and credible.
  • Contribute to the refinement and growth of tone of voice guidelines as the business expands.
  • Review and brief copy produced by agencies, freelancers and AI-enabled tools to maintain quality and consistency.

Testing and optimisation

  • Work alongside the Performance Marketing team on a structured copy testing approach.
  • Use performance insights to identify what is resonating and improve future copy accordingly.
  • Keep up to date with platform trends and current best practice in both brand and performance writing.
  • Use AI tools confidently to help with ideation and content production at scale.

Requirements

  • A portfolio that shows flexibility across campaign storytelling, long-form writing, short-form ads and calls to action.
  • Proven experience writing for both brand-led campaigns and performance marketing channels.
  • Clear understanding of what makes copy effective on Meta and TikTok.
  • Background writing for brands with a defined tone of voice, ideally in D2C, wellness, beauty or lifestyle.
  • Comfort working with data to improve and refine copy.
  • Ability to work quickly and at pace without losing quality or brand consistency.
  • Experience collaborating across brand, creative and performance functions.
  • Strong appreciation for language and how it influences results.
  • Ability to move between storytelling and direct-response copy within the same day.
  • Highly organised, quick to respond and able to stay calm under pressure.
  • Open to feedback and comfortable refining work iteratively.
  • Interest in consumer behaviour, culture and audience connection.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for purpose-driven businesses and the wellness sector.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving scale-up environment.
  • Available at short notice and open to part-time or flexible working.

Company culture

To thrive at Ancient + Brave, you will need to reflect the brand’s shared values:

  • Bravery — courageous, bold and experimental.
