Overview
Join Nesma Infrastructure & Technology (NIT) as a Contracts and Claims Lead based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This position supports the execution of NIT's strategy for contract and claims management by overseeing the preparation, administration, and monitoring of key contract and subcontract agreements. The role emphasizes ensuring sound contractual governance, proactive handling of risks and changes, timely claims and variation submissions, and safeguarding NIT's contractual and financial interests.
Responsibilities
- Ensure contract management activities align fully with client objectives, strategies, policies, plans, procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Implement industry best practices, methodologies, and strategies as needed.
- Identify and recommend improvements and innovative approaches.
- Oversee timely and accurate administration of contracts awarded by clients.
- Manage contractual correspondence, ensuring disputes, claims, notices, and replies meet high-quality standards respecting NIT's rights.
- Draft professional and precise contractual notices.
- Adopt a proactive stance toward risk identification and change control.
- Lead dispute and claim resolution efforts, formalizing contract changes via variations while protecting NIT's interests.
- Work collaboratively with clients to maintain comprehensive contract management.
- Coordinate with engineering, technical, and project teams to ensure effective contract administration, payment certification, variation processing, and claims management.
- Stay engaged with relevant professional societies to remain informed on contractual developments.
- Delegate tasks, support, and supervise team members, reviewing their output before stakeholder distribution.
- Conduct weekly meetings with team to review task progress, Change Orders, Claims, and Extension of Time (EOT) applications for decision-making.
- Serve as the primary contact for the Contract & Claims department with all stakeholders.
- Initiate, prepare, review, distribute, and ensure implementation of the Contract & Claims Manual across relevant parties.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or Law is required, with extensive knowledge of FIDIC contracts.
- A postgraduate degree in Construction Law is preferable.
- Professional certifications such as MRICS, MCIOB, or membership in recognized engineering or claims institutes are desirable but not mandatory.
- Between 8 to 13 years of overall experience in contracts and claims management related to construction or infrastructure projects.
- At least 5 to 7 years in a senior or leadership position dealing with complex contractual and claims issues.
