About the Company

Botany Bay is a rapidly expanding cannabis management company based in the Midwest. Over the last few years, it has launched and developed a range of notable cannabis brands, including Midweek Friday, Alchemy, Interstate 420, RisEau, nuEra, and Prairie Cannabis. The company supports licensed retail, cultivation, and processing businesses in Illinois, as well as the emerging Kentucky medical cannabis market.

Role Overview

This role is designed for a creative content marketing professional who can help shape the voice, visibility, and storytelling of multiple brands across different platforms. Reporting to the Marketing Director, the person in this position will lead content initiatives, oversee social media activity, and produce engaging messages that strengthen brand presence. The role is hybrid, combining remote and in-office work, and may involve occasional travel within Illinois and Kentucky.

Content Strategy and Creation

  • Build and implement a content marketing approach that drives awareness, engagement, and growth across a multi-brand cannabis portfolio.
  • Write SEO-conscious content for social media, blogs, websites, email campaigns, press releases, and both digital and print marketing materials.

Visual and Brand Design

  • Create and deliver visual assets for campaigns, events, branded merchandise, and other marketing materials while keeping all output aligned with brand standards.

Education and Training Materials

  • Develop informational and training content for internal teams, wholesale partners, dispensary staff, and customers, including presentations, one-pagers, and product guides focused on cannabis products, retail experiences, and brand storytelling.

Social Media and Influencer Marketing

  • Manage social media execution end to end, including calendars, publishing, audience engagement, short-form video, influencer partnerships, and campaign performance review.

Website and Digital Presence

  • Keep brand websites current and accurate, with attention to content quality, visual consistency, SEO best practices, and timely updates.
  • Oversee brand visibility on Google Business Profiles, Yelp, and other online listing platforms.

Public Relations and Communications

  • Prepare and send press releases through wire distribution services and other media channels when needed.

Collaboration and Content Gathering

  • Work closely with sales, marketing, and leadership teams to support training efforts, launches, and campaigns.
  • Partner with teams on-site at retail and cultivation locations to collect photos, videos, and stories, and guide employees on sharing useful, brand-appropriate content.

Analytics and Optimization

  • Track, interpret, and report performance data from social media, web, and content campaigns to shape strategy and improve results.
  • Stay informed about SEO developments, platform changes, and content marketing best practices, then apply that knowledge across all work.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate brings strong creative instincts, a passion for cannabis culture, and the ability to create content that resonates across formats. You should be comfortable working in a fast-moving, growth-oriented environment and know how to produce content that feels current, engaging, and platform-appropriate.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Must meet all applicable state requirements for employment in an Illinois licensed cannabis operation.

Application Instructions

Applicants should include a portfolio with their resume to showcase prior content creation and marketing work, including personal or professional projects. Experience relevant to cannabis, consumer packaged goods, or retail should be highlighted.

Employment decisions are made without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender expression, age, national origin, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status.
