The Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) and Ecommerce team plays a critical role in Mattel’s digital transformation and growth by creating compelling digital shopping experiences and strengthening direct consumer relationships via platforms such as Mattel Creations and American Girl.
Role Overview and Impact
The Consumer Data Analyst will leverage consumer and ecommerce data to drive business growth, reporting directly to the Manager of Consumer Data & Advanced Analytics based in El Segundo, CA.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize descriptive statistics and consumer behavior analyses including new versus returning customers, cohort analysis, and customer journey mapping.
- Design and implement quantitative analytic approaches such as data cleaning, linear and logistic regression, segmentation, churn and propensity modeling, and calculating lifetime value.
- Develop proficiency in SQL and relational databases like MySQL, Redshift, and BigQuery to perform accurate data querying.
- Use Python or R to clean, explore, transform data, perform statistical analysis and predictive modeling, maintaining clear and standardized code through scripts or notebooks.
- Create insightful data visualizations and interactive dashboards using Tableau, Looker, Power BI, or Sisense, as well as programmatic plotting tools like matplotlib or ggplot.
- Apply deep understanding of ecommerce metrics such as conversion rates, demand forecasting, net sales, average order value, retention rates, and RFM analysis.
- Proactively identify challenges and develop data-driven solutions using strong critical thinking and continuous learning mindset.
- Communicate analytical findings clearly and effectively to business stakeholders, supporting recommendations with quantitative evidence and well-documented methodologies.
- Balance independent problem-solving with collaboration, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related quantitative field.
- At least two years’ professional experience in analytics, business intelligence, data science, or related roles.
- Prior experience in ecommerce, digital analytics, consumer insights, or retail is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with data transformation processes (ETL) and cloud platforms like Google Cloud Platform or AWS is a plus.
