About the Role
This Community Payback Supervisor position is based at NMS Whitechapel House, Telford (TF2 9FN). The role involves leading groups of offenders serving community sentences on unpaid work projects that benefit the community. Typical tasks include supervising and motivating offenders to perform manual labor such as clearing overgrowth, restoring community facilities, planting trees and flowerbeds, litter picking, graffiti removal, and building benches. Besides supervision, the supervisor may drive service vehicles to transport people or equipment.
Responsibilities
- Lead and monitor groups of people on probation during their community work placement for up to 7 hours daily.
- Ensure tasks are completed safely and to a high standard alongside offenders, demonstrating best practice as needed.
- Oversee all site supervision duties, including managing resources and adherence to regulations.
- Work weekend shifts and occasionally evenings, accommodating the needs of people on probation who work or have caring responsibilities.
Requirements
- Possession of a full UK Manual Driving Licence is mandatory; applications from holders of automatic-only licences will not be accepted.
- Right to work in the UK is required; the role is not currently eligible for new Skilled Worker visas unless previously held before July 22, 2025.
- Ability to communicate effectively and empathetically to work with a diverse population.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, including frequent weekends and occasional evening work.
- Compliance with criminal record checks and baseline personnel security standards.
Working Conditions and Pay
- Part-time position with a pro-rata starting salary of £28,064.
- Work is physically active and varied with no two days the same.
