We are committed to values like trust, sustainability, creativity, generosity, and curiosity and foster a collaborative environment where every idea is valued to help us become the world's leading human-centered appliance brand.
As a Commercial Solar Design Engineer in our Home Solutions team, you will play a crucial role in shaping sustainable energy solutions for New Zealand and Australia. You will be tasked with creating technically sound and innovative commercial solar and energy system designs that support customers' transition to sustainable energy.
Key Responsibilities
You will develop detailed designs for commercial solar and energy systems ensuring a balance of engineering quality, compliance with regulations, and commercial feasibility. This includes interpreting specifications, creating precise drawings, conducting energy modelling, and optimizing systems. You will collaborate closely with sales, installation, product, and service teams to support project delivery and help improve design standards and team expertise.
Your projects will encompass commercial and industrial solar PV systems, integration with sustainable buildings, energy modelling, HVAC and hot-water system evaluations, load calculations, and developing customer-centric energy solutions aligned with our strategy.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have a passion for sustainable energy and problem-solving complex engineering challenges. You should have at least three years of experience designing commercial solar systems, with HVAC or hot-water system knowledge considered a plus. A strong understanding of AS/NZS standards (4777, 5033, 5139, and 4509), building codes, and construction practices is essential.
Proficiency in industry design and modelling software such as SolarPlus, PVSyst, TRNSYS, or Revit is required, along with strong analytical skills and the ability to manage multiple projects. You should also be collaborative, customer-focused, proactive in improving processes, and dedicated to delivering quality engineering outcomes with a steadfast commitment to health and safety.
Benefits and Work Environment
You will work within a passionate and cooperative team on impactful projects contributing to decarbonization efforts across New Zealand and Australia. The role offers flexibility through a hybrid working model and is based out of our modern Penrose headquarters in Auckland.
Competitive compensation is provided along with opportunities for career growth. Employees benefit from generous discounts on Fisher & Paykel and Haier products, life and disability insurance, subsidized medical cover, industry-leading family leave policies, an on-site subsidized café, and free parking when working onsite.
