Collections Manager

About the Role

A Private Equity Commercial Real Estate firm is looking to hire a Collections Manager for their Property Management division. This role focuses on handling accounts receivable and collections for a portfolio of retail commercial properties.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and track all outstanding receivables relating to rent, CAM fees, and other tenant charges within the retail portfolio.
• Proactively reach out to tenants to collect overdue payments and maintain comprehensive records of collection efforts and communications.
• Identify delinquent accounts and recommend defaults; present these findings during collection meetings.
• Work directly with tenants to negotiate payment plans, resolve balances, and ensure fulfillment of payment agreements.
• Assist in tenant CAM (Common Area Maintenance) disputes by gathering necessary documents and forwarding issues to the CAM department for resolution.
• Collaborate closely with property and asset managers to stay updated on tenant status, lease terms, and other factors impacting collections.
• Generate and deliver regular reports detailing delinquency trends, collection activities, and receivables status across the portfolio.
• Coordinate with legal counsel on escalated matters such as tenant defaults and lease termination proceedings.
• Analyze patterns in tenant payment delinquencies and suggest process improvements to enhance collection effectiveness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree, preferably in finance, accounting, or similar disciplines.
• Knowledge of commercial lease agreements and tenant billing components including base rent, CAM, insurance, and taxes.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Prior experience with Yardi property management software is advantageous.
