Child Safety Specialist

Role Overview

We are seeking a Child & Online Safety Specialist on a contract basis, offering $50 to $90 per hour for remote work. Weekly commitment ranges from 10 to 40 hours. This role involves developing taxonomies and safety standards related to adolescent mental health and digital safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed taxonomies concerning self-harm, suicide prevention, eating disorders, and emotional dependency in online environments.
• Establish best practices for digital support and clinical safety addressing youth and adolescent mental health.
• Create frameworks to detect, flag, and assess potentially harmful online content related to mental health crises involving minors.
• Design and improve clinical response rubrics and escalation protocols for at-risk children and adolescents in digital contexts.
• Work alongside project leaders to ensure evaluation benchmarks and guidelines align with current clinical research and best practices.
• Provide expertise on policies adjacent to Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) and dynamics of online child exploitation to strengthen child safety measures digitally.
• Deliver clear, actionable feedback in both written and oral forms to influence the evolution of AI safety tools and related frameworks.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Proven experience in adolescent mental health, suicide prevention, eating disorder interventions, or related areas.
• Licensed therapist, psychiatrist, clinician, or mental health professional with direct experience in crisis care.
• Expertise in clinical risk assessment and digital or online intervention strategies.
• Possession of an advanced degree, specialized certification, or equivalent operational experience in mental health or child safety.
• Experience with CSAM-related policy evaluation or involvement in child online exploitation prevention efforts.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify complex information for various audiences.
