Role Overview
Exapta Solutions is hiring a Chief Operating Officer in McPherson, Kansas. This is an onsite leadership role reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer. The compensation package includes a base salary of $160,000 to $185,000, plus performance bonus potential and an equity opportunity.

Role Purpose
The COO will act as the CEO’s close strategic partner and the organization’s second-in-command. This person will help strengthen the operating rhythm of the business, improve alignment across teams, and support consistent execution while protecting the culture and relationships that define Exapta.
The position exists because the company’s growth has increased the number of decisions and coordination points flowing through the CEO. The COO will create additional leadership capacity by improving communication, strengthening accountability, supporting organizational development, and helping priorities move forward with greater consistency.
Key Areas of Responsibility
The role covers leadership alignment, operational performance, recruiting and talent development, sales accountability, and cross-functional execution.
- Bring the leadership team together around shared goals, priorities, and strategic initiatives.
- Define decision rights, ownership, and accountability so leaders operate with greater clarity.
- Support departmental leaders in meeting both team and company objectives.
- Coach and develop leaders to build confidence, capability, and follow-through.
- Lead productive leadership meetings and planning sessions.
- Help leaders manage challenges, opportunities, and organizational change.
- Encourage trust, collaboration, and strong communication among senior leaders.
- Improve leadership effectiveness across the organization and ensure commitments are delivered.
- Work with the General Manager to support smooth and effective operations.
- Spot bottlenecks and identify opportunities to improve how the business runs.
- Strengthen communication and coordination between departments.
- Help resolve issues that affect more than one function.
- Support execution of strategic and operational priorities.
- Build systems and processes that improve consistency and accountability.
- Align resources and initiatives with company goals.
- Identify workforce and leadership gaps that must be filled to support future growth.
- Lead recruiting efforts for important roles.
- Support hiring decisions and onboarding activities.
- Help create leadership development and succession planning programs.
- Create pathways for employee growth and internal advancement.
- Support retention and engagement efforts.
- Strengthen the company’s future leadership bench.
- Partner with sales leadership to increase visibility, consistency, and accountability in sales.
- Support recruitment and development of future sales leaders.
- Review sales results, forecasts, and pipeline activity.
- Improve access to meaningful sales metrics and performance data.
- Reinforce accountability for sales goals and commitments.
- Help shape scalable sales processes.
- Keep sales commitments aligned with operational capacity.
- Contribute to building a predictable and sustainable revenue engine.
- Serve as a connector across operations, sales, R&D, inventory, purchasing, and leadership.
- Clarify ownership where duties overlap.
- Remove barriers that slow execution or create confusion.
- Support strategic initiatives through to completion.
- Improve coordination and collaboration across functions.
- Help departments work together effectively toward shared objectives.
What Success Looks Like
Success in the first 12 months means the leadership team is more aligned and effective, departmental leaders have clearer direction and support, cross-functional communication improves, and company priorities move forward more reliably. Recruiting, onboarding, and leadership development should become stronger, sales activity should be easier to measure and forecast, and employees should feel better informed and supported. The COO should also free up the CEO to spend more time on strategy, growth, customer relationships, and long-term opportunities.
Qualifications
- Background as a COO, President, Integrator, Chief Administrative Officer, Division President, Business Unit President, or another comparable senior executive role.
- Proven ability to lead and develop leaders across several business functions.
- Strong understanding of operations and business performance.
- Experience improving organizational effectiveness through people, systems, and leadership.
- Success guiding established teams through growth and change.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and relationship-building ability.
- Experience recruiting, hiring, and developing talent.
- Ability to drive cross-functional alignment and organizational accountability.
- Capacity to balance accountability with support and leadership development.
- Good judgment, strong decision-making, and a collaborative leadership style.
- Proven ability to build trust while improving business results.
Preferred Background
Experience in agriculture, manufacturing, equipment, distribution, or a related industry is helpful, but not mandatory.
Compensation and Growth
The role offers a base salary of $160,000 to $185,000, performance-based bonus potential, and equity opportunity. For the right person, it may also lead to future executive leadership opportunities depending on performance, leadership impact, and long-term contribution.
Location and Travel
This is an onsite position based in McPherson, Kansas. The job requires regular interaction with employees, customers, and leadership. Periodic travel will also be needed for customer engagement, industry events, trade shows, and other business priorities.
