About Wattif

Wattif develops the AI Energy Engineer, an intelligent system that continuously monitors a facility's electrical consumption, identifies hidden issues not visible in monthly bills, and translates these into actionable, evidence-based recommendations.

The current energy landscape in the US is challenging: electricity demand is rising rapidly (fastest since 2000), transformer delivery times can exceed four years, and commercial electricity rates have increased over 10% annually. Demand charges represent 30-70% of large commercial electric bills. Facilities adding EV chargers, heat pumps, or increasing production face complex engineering challenges without affordable or available experts, given the shortage of HVAC technicians. Wattif addresses this by partnering with trusted trade contractors and integrators, integrating AI-driven engineering support as an invisible infrastructure layer.

The Role

This is a founding-team position at Wattif’s US business, not a standard executive hire. Compensation is primarily founder equity with typical vesting over four years, supplemented by a modest stipend that grows as revenue permits. A competitive market salary will commence upon institutional funding or hitting revenue benchmarks, all specified from the outset in your agreement. This opportunity suits candidates excited by building from the ground up rather than established operations.

You will be accountable for bridging the product with US revenue growth:

  • First 12 months: Acquire initial US clients and partners by selling high-value energy assessments (capacity studies, EV expansion, load and demand optimizations) targeting mid-tier process, cold-chain, fleet, and light-industrial facilities in Massachusetts, New York, and California.
  • Convert delivered assessments into ongoing monitoring retainers to establish recurring revenue.
  • Recruit initial US execution partners — electrical contractors, refrigeration contractors, and controls integrators — engaging them through revenue-generating work orders from client findings rather than direct pitching.
  • Develop and refine a scalable commercial model covering pricing, proposal design, and transitioning from single studies to retainers.
  • 12 to 36 months: Launch and manage a US partner program enabling contractors and integrators to offer Wattif-powered engineering under their own brands, with a usage-based payment model.
  • Oversee partner financial models, tiers, and enablement efforts, measuring success by partner growth on the platform.
  • Expand geographically beyond New England into areas with substantial demand charges.
  • Build and lead a US commercial team aligned with funding and revenue growth.

Candidate Profile

Ideal candidates will bring:

  • More than eight years of leadership experience in commercial roles within energy services, building technologies, industrial controls, or related channel-driven B2B industries, including personal experience closing high-value deals.
  • Deep understanding of the buyer landscape — capacity to engage facilities directors on demand charges, contractors on service agreement margins, and plant owners on operational downtime.
  • Proven belief in and preferably direct experience with selling via trade contractors, integrators, dealers or MSP-style partners, and a clear grasp of what these partners need to succeed on a platform.
  • A robust network or demonstrated capability to quickly cultivate relationships among New England’s commercial and industrial sectors, trade contractors, and the regional energy ecosystem such as utilities and efficiency initiatives.
  • Comfort with equity-forward compensation, ambiguity, and constructing a business model and organization from scratch.
  • Additional advantages include experience in ESCO or energy assessment sales, participation in trade contractor communities, familiarity with controls and BMS channels, and knowledge of Mass Save or Northeast utility programs.

Compensation and Benefits

You will receive founding team equity subject to a standard four-year vesting schedule, alongside meaningful input into the company’s strategic direction. Financial rewards comprise a modest stipend initially, ramping up to a market-rate salary following funding or meeting pre-defined revenue triggers, each transparently documented.
