Job Overview
The role involves being an integral part of a specialist team responsible for delivering national and international approvals and issuing Agrément Certificates for construction product manufacturers and Offsite Manufacturers (OSM) building systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage product and building system assessment contracts for Agrément Certification covering application processing, contract offers, and scheduling detailed work programs.
- Initiate and manage contracts while coordinating with clients, external agencies, and subcontractors.
- Develop technical assessment specifications and perform detailed technical evaluations of construction products and building systems.
- Review test and assessment reports to draw conclusions on product and system performance.
- Create and agree upon inspection plans specifically for MMC buildings and conduct site inspections as per quality and inspection plans.
- Draft certificates and reports, overseeing documents until they reach publication stage.
- Oversee specialist subcontractors and perform ongoing compliance audits of manufacturers, including travel as needed.
- Promote Agrément Certification via seminars, articles, trade shows, and marketing targeted at building product specifiers, state bodies, and local authorities.
- Maintain comprehensive records of client meetings, inspections, and internal discussions, ensuring confidentiality at all times.
- Stay informed on technological and regulatory developments impacting Agrément certification by monitoring committees and conducting research.
- Undertake limited international travel and perform any other duties assigned by the Department Manager.
Qualifications and Experience
- Essential: University or technical college engineering degree or equivalent at NFQ level 8 or above.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the construction industry.
- Desirable: Degree in civil/structural engineering, building physics or comparable technical professional qualification.
- Familiarity with Construction Product Regulations (CE Marking), Irish Building Regulations, and modern construction products and practices advantageous.
- Knowledge of product testing, quality control, report preparation, Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), BIM, and construction digitization is preferred.
Technical and Core Competencies
- Experience in managing technical projects and services is beneficial.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong skills in project management, communication, planning, organization, and administration with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Capability to build and maintain professional relationships with industrial clients, local authorities, and government agencies.
