Position Overview

The Cashier role at Ujjivan Small Finance Bank is a full-time position based at the branch location in Mayiladuturai, Tamil Nadu. Reporting to the Branch Operation Manager, this role is fundamental in managing all cash-based transactions adhering strictly to banking policies and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure smooth cash operations by accurately executing cash transactions and maintaining related account activities.
• Manage all cash handling functions including acceptance and processing of cheques, drafts, pay orders, and similar instruments within authorized limits while providing proper receipts.
• Disburse cash for withdrawals and accept cash for deposits, including repayment collections per EMI schedules, ensuring data entry into the system.
• Update and maintain registers such as inward and outward registers, petty cash, assets, and submit requisitions to the Regional Head Office.
• Perform daily reconciliation of cash and transactions, report findings in end-of-day branch reports, and co-manage branch vault operations with operations officers.
• Deliver excellent customer service by assisting customers with transactions, answering inquiries, explaining repayment schedules, and promoting new products and services.
• Maintain compliance with service quality standards by promptly escalating customer grievances and educating customers on alternative banking channels.
• Conduct cash counts at the beginning and end of the day, safeguard branch cash and valuables jointly with the Assistant Branch Manager, ensuring smooth cash department operations.
• Adhere to turnaround times for transactions, comply with banking policies and audit requirements, verify customers' identities during cash withdrawals, and update passbooks as needed.
• Process cash bundles for deposits to the currency chest with proper documentation.

Learning & Performance

• Stay updated on Ujjivan’s products, regulatory norms, and customer identification processes.
• Complete mandatory training and certification programs as scheduled by the operations department.
• Engage in performance evaluations including goal setting and mid-year reviews within required timelines.

Educational & Experience Requirements

• Any undergraduate degree is required, preferably in Finance or Commerce.
• At least 1 to 2 years of experience handling high-volume cash transactions.
• Familiarity with financial modules or ERP systems and experience consolidating accounting data are essential.

Skills & Competencies

• Proficient in cash handling and accounting with strong numerical skills.
• Ability to detect counterfeit notes and meticulous attention to transaction accuracy.
• Customer-focused mindset with excellent interpersonal, listening, and communication skills.
• Competent in using computers and relevant software, with on-the-job training provided.
• Capable of multitasking and managing relationships effectively, demonstrating strong execution skills.

Interactions

• Collaborate with regional operations teams, FCU officers, service quality executives, neighboring banks, cash management agencies, and business correspondent agents.
