Role Overview
As a Caretaker at Police Scotland, you will deliver essential services across designated Police Scotland buildings. Your duties, guided by the Facilities Officer or Senior Caretaker, will cover a range of tasks including maintenance, porterage, cleaning, and general security. Your efforts contribute to creating a safe and secure environment for both employees and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Detect any building faults or defects, addressing repairs or reporting them to appropriate personnel, including managing emergency facility situations to maintain a safe and functional estate.
- Perform daily checks on all mechanical systems and plant rooms to ensure heating, ventilation, and hot water operate effectively and efficiently.
- Maintain and repair lighting, alarm equipment, water supply, and sanitary facilities as needed.
- Handle confidential waste by collecting, securing, shredding, and transferring it to authorized disposal sites.
- Manage building and car park entrances to ensure they are well maintained; clear snow and grit paths and roads to safeguard access and user safety; facilitate refuse collection access when necessary.
Contract Details and Working Hours
This role is on a fixed term contract for 12 months at the Edinburgh Fettes site. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00.
