About the Role

As a Buyer with MGM Resorts International in Las Vegas, Nevada, you will help create distinctive retail experiences across a portfolio of world-class properties. This position centers on building and carrying out buying plans for both high-volume and specialized product categories, with the goal of increasing sales, improving profitability, and strengthening brand performance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full buying process for a medium- to high-volume product category in line with retail and property strategy.
  • Handle purchasing for specialty categories.
  • Build merchandise assortments that support financial targets and property brand goals.
  • Review historical performance, market trends, product mix, and competitor activity to guide buying strategy.
  • Assess existing practices to uncover new opportunities and potential in-season risks.
  • Take part in budgeting for merchandising, including inventory, sales, receipts, markdowns, turnover, gross margin, and weeks of supply.
  • Monitor business performance during the season and manage inventory, markdowns, and exit plans with retail leadership.
  • Negotiate exclusive products, pricing, terms, vendor-funded markdowns, return-to-vendor arrangements, and drop-ship programs.
  • Build strong working relationships across teams and influence partners to achieve outcomes.
  • Keep up-to-date knowledge of potential vendors and new product ideas.
  • Define target customer profiles using market data, competitive shopping, and business trend analysis.
  • Stay aware of changing market conditions and respond to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Support and mentor diverse vendors by explaining certification and compliance requirements in support of corporate social responsibility efforts.
  • Guide, coach, and train junior team members and provide performance recommendations when needed.
