In this position, you will work alongside the Business Manager (Strategy & Operations) and the Principal to provide specialist advice, strengthen business processes, and keep school operations running efficiently, compliantly, and in line with strategic priorities.

This opportunity suits someone who brings strong leadership, strategic judgement, and practical problem-solving ability, and who performs well in a busy, collaborative setting with shifting priorities.

With a strong community focus and a commitment to high standards, the role provides scope to make a real difference to students and the wider community while continuing your own professional development.

Key duties

  • Exercise a high level of independence while ensuring business service objectives are met, guiding diverse teams and setting clear expectations for service delivery in a dynamic school context.
  • Support and lead executive and administrative services, including handling multiple tasks, coordinating multidisciplinary groups with competing deadlines, interpreting departmental policies, and overseeing training and development for school support staff.
  • Identify and implement improvements that make business processes and work practices more efficient and effective.
  • Lead human resources activities for school support staff, including talent spotting, performance support, mentoring, workforce planning, recruitment, induction, training, vacancy processing, skills analysis, performance management, and rehabilitation processes.
  • Work with the Principal to support change across school support staff and ensure HR practices align with current standards, awards, and conditions.
  • Provide leadership across finance, facilities, and WH&S responsibilities as part of the school’s broader operational management.

Selection strengths

  • Confident leadership and team coordination skills, with the ability to motivate and guide staff.
  • Background in budgeting, financial planning, and compliance with applicable policies and laws.
  • Ability to oversee facilities-related work and support project planning and delivery.
  • Self-driven, future-focused, and comfortable adapting to changing circumstances.
  • Strong organisation and problem-solving capability, especially when balancing multiple priorities.
  • Effective communication and relationship-building skills to influence stakeholders and support positive change.

Application requirements

  • Provide a concise resume that includes the contact details of two referees who understand your relevant work history.
  • Submit a two-page written statement addressing the attached role description.
  • Applicants can request support to help ensure the recruitment process is accessible and inclusive.
  • Applications stay active for 12 months from the closing date and may be considered for similar or identical vacancies within the Department.
