Role overview
First National Bank Ghana is looking for a Business Banker to join its Commercial and Business Banking team in Kumasi. The role is focused on building strong client relationships, growing a portfolio of small and medium enterprises, and contributing to profitable business growth.

What you will do
- Take responsibility for managing the function and contributing to the customer relationship management approach.
- Oversee and grow a portfolio of SME clients with a strong focus on profitability.
- Build detailed knowledge of each business client’s operations and needs.
- Manage product distribution and cross-selling within client relationships to improve profit and return on equity.
- Spot business opportunities and help develop fresh concepts and approaches that support growth.
- Maintain a healthy portfolio and work to unlock its full potential.
- Improve the quality of the client base within the portfolio.
- Create portfolio-specific plans and actions that support revenue growth and target achievement.
- Retain existing clients while meeting allocated portfolio targets.
- Win new profitable business and design tailored solutions for client needs.
- Ensure all activities align with applicable laws, client expectations, and internal process standards.
- Track and review the organisation’s management of legal and compliance risk.
- Resolve escalated transactional banking issues to maintain customer satisfaction.
- Maintain a strong presence in the community and support quality drawdown credit applications.
- Work with product specialists across the FirstRand Group and build collaborative internal relationships to improve client service.
- Handle projects according to project management guidelines and apply strong consulting and coaching skills.
- Allocate and manage tasks, activities, and resources effectively, including KYC, expired limits, and data management.
- Ensure expired limits are addressed within the required targets.
What we are looking for
- A relevant degree.
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in the SME market in Kumasi.
- Strong understanding of business client relationship management.
- Ability to manage and grow a portfolio with a commercial mindset.
- Experience handling KYC, credit applications, transactional issues, and compliance-related work.
- Comfort working in a collaborative, fast-moving environment.
- An adaptable and curious approach to work.
