Overview
The Budgeting Officer plays a critical role in supporting the organization’s budgeting, financial planning, and budget monitoring processes. This position collaborates closely with various business units to facilitate budget submissions, monitor expenditure, analyze variances, and aid in strategic financial planning to ensure alignment with corporate goals and compliance requirements.
Primary Duties
- Assist in assembling and consolidating annual and periodic budgets.
- Coordinate budget inputs from departments and business units.
- Help develop financial assumptions, forecasts, and comprehensive budget plans.
- Maintain records and documentation related to budget planning.
- Monitor spending against approved budgets and identify discrepancies.
- Conduct variance analyses to highlight significant departures from the budget.
- Track commitments and analyze expenditure patterns.
- Support departments in budget management practices.
- Prepare budget status reports, dashboards, and management overviews.
- Provide analytical support for forecasting and financial planning.
- Derive actionable insights from budget performance for decision support.
- Ensure adherence to company financial policies and governance in budgeting activities.
- Maintain comprehensive budget documentation and support audits.
- Collaborate with finance and business units on budget matters.
- Facilitate ongoing improvements in budgeting processes, templates, and reporting mechanisms.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Between 5 to 7 years of experience in budgeting, financial planning and analysis, forecasting, budget control, and management reporting.
- Professional certifications such as CMA, CPA, ACCA, CIMA, or FMVA are preferred.
Technical Expertise
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and ERP software.
- Knowledgeable in Power BI, financial modeling, and budget development.
