Program Overview
The Biotechnology Regulatory Fellowship offers a six-month, full-time professional development opportunity for early-career professionals interested in biotechnology product regulation. This immersive fellowship, based in Washington, D.C., is managed by the National Academies' Office of Fellowships for the Committee on Science, Technology, and Law.
Program Highlights
- Engage with the evolving landscape of biotechnology regulation and risk assessment
- Conduct horizon-scanning to anticipate future regulatory challenges associated with biotechnology products
- Collaborate in multidisciplinary teams on capstone projects designed for practical impact
- Receive mentorship from professionals with experience at USDA, EPA, and FDA
- Present findings and projects to an advisory committee alongside agency staff and other stakeholders
- Participate in educational events such as Congressional hearings, industry conferences, and Academies’ convenings
Award and Duration
- Fellowship duration: Six months, full-time at 37.5 hours per week
- Location: Washington, D.C. (in-person)
- Stipend: $70,000 paid through monthly installments
- Note: Fellows do not qualify for National Academies employee benefits
