About the role

This position is for a commercially driven biofuel trading specialist to expand trading activity across South Asia, with India as the first strategic priority. The opportunity is designed for someone who can help build a presence in a fast-growing biofuels market while also keeping an eye on wider international business possibilities. The role calls for strong sector knowledge, commercial judgment, and the ability to work closely with market participants and internal teams.

What you will do

• Source, assess, and close biofuel trading deals across South Asia and overseas markets.
• Stay on top of market movements, policy changes, import and export rules, and sustainability-related obligations that affect trading.
• Build and sustain commercial relationships with suppliers, distributors, refineries, and customers.
• Lead contract discussions for buying and selling, aiming for strong commercial terms and controlled risk.
• Apply hedging approaches through paper trades and, where relevant, speculative positions aligned with physical trade flows.
• Oversee logistics and shipment timing to support on-schedule delivery of biofuel cargoes.
• Interpret market information to shape pricing decisions and forecast future trends.
• Work with finance, legal, and operations teams to improve execution and coordination.
• Maintain adherence to regulatory, environmental, and sustainability requirements.
• Produce regular trading updates, performance reviews, and market commentary for leadership.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Chemical Engineering, Energy Management, or a similar discipline.
• More than 7 years of experience in biofuel trading, energy commodities, or closely related markets.
• Solid understanding of the Indian biofuels market, relevant policy landscape, and global supply-demand dynamics.
• Strong capability in negotiation, analysis, and professional communication.
• Working familiarity with commodity trading systems and financial risk management methods.
• Preparedness to travel within India and internationally as business needs require.
