Overview
The Bar Captain is responsible for preparing and serving beverages following specified recipes, maintaining the cleanliness and order of the bar area, and ensuring excellent guest service within a Marriott hotel setting in Doha, Qatar.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare drink orders accurately according to measured recipes.
- Issue, open, and serve wine and champagne bottles with professionalism.
- Maintain cleanliness and good condition of the bar, tables, and related equipment.
- Prepare fresh garnishes and stock necessary supplies such as ice, glassware, and paper products.
- Transport supplies to bar setup areas and handle washing of used glassware.
- Clear soiled items promptly from bar tops and tables, placing them in specified locations.
- Anticipate and communicate replenishment requirements to keep the bar well-stocked.
- Process various payment methods, handle banking tasks including counting cash at shift end, preparing cashier reports, resolving discrepancies, and securing funds.
- Secure all liquor, beer, wine, and related storage areas following company policies.
- Complete all closing duties responsibly to prepare the bar for next operations.
- Adhere strictly to company safety and security policies, report any hazards or incidents, and complete required safety training.
- Maintain a professional appearance and confidentiality of proprietary information.
- Ensure excellent guest engagement by welcoming guests, anticipating needs, and using clear professional communication.
- Foster positive relationships with team members, support team goals, and respond appropriately to colleague concerns.
- Follow quality standards consistently, and perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 pounds), and maneuvering around varied work environments.
- Perform any reasonable additional duties requested by supervisors.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum education requirement: High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
- At least one year of relevant work experience in a similar role.
- No supervisory experience required.
- No specific licenses or certifications are mandatory.
