Role Overview
The Associate News Editor position is based in the United Kingdom, offering remote or hybrid work options including office presence at Canary Wharf, London. The role focuses on U.S. news, politics, current affairs, and culture with responsibilities across news production, story sourcing, writing, editing, and digital publishing.
Key Duties
- Create, edit, and publish multiple news pieces daily.
- React promptly and precisely to breaking news events.
- Track various sources for developing news stories and trends.
- Initiate and pitch original articles, exclusive content, and interviews.
- Support and manage live blog content as necessary.
- Work collaboratively with the U.S. News Editor and editorial teams on news coverage and projects.
- Uphold the highest standards of journalistic accuracy, fairness, and integrity for all content.
- Carry out any additional editorial duties essential for business needs.
Required Skills and Experience
- Several years of professional experience in digital journalism with a strong focus on U.S. topics.
- Demonstrated excellent news judgment and the ability to work under tight time constraints.
- Strong organizational and planning capabilities.
- Proficiency in digital publishing platforms, content management systems, and relevant editing software.
- Competence with standard IT tools including Microsoft Office suite.
- Flexibility to work various hours including weekends as part of a rota schedule.
Additional Information
This full-time role requires a five-day workweek, often including one or two weekend days.
