Descrizione del lavoro
Role Overview
This position sits within the Thermal Projects function and focuses on end-to-end mechanical engineering support for power plant projects. The role calls for 5 to 10 years of hands-on experience in mechanical engineering assignments tied to thermal power facilities, including execution, design checking, commissioning support, and maintenance-related assistance. The work is expected to align with strong standards around safety, sustainability, and quality.
Key Responsibilities
The selected professional will contribute across the full project lifecycle, from planning through handover, with close coordination across engineering, procurement, construction, and operations teams.
- Work with project leads and cross-functional teams to build mechanical schedules, manpower/resource plans, and procurement timelines for thermal power initiatives.
- Support mechanical risk assessment and mitigation planning while ensuring statutory compliance and adherence to internal safety requirements.
- Examine mechanical drawings, equipment data sheets, and technical specifications for items such as boilers, turbines, pumps, heat exchangers, and supporting systems to verify feasibility and project fit.
- Liaise with consultants and suppliers to close technical queries, improve design efficiency, and keep solutions cost-effective without lowering quality standards.
- Assist procurement in the technical comparison and evaluation of equipment and materials so they meet project specifications and internal quality benchmarks.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for technical clarifications, inspection support, and timely delivery of mechanical items.
- Monitor installation activities at site, including equipment placement, alignment, welding, and piping, to ensure they match drawings and specifications.
- Apply strict safety practices during installation and commissioning, supporting a zero-harm culture on site.
- Carry out site inspections and progress checks, troubleshoot mechanical issues, and work with contractors to keep work on schedule.
- Lead or support testing and commissioning of mechanical systems, including performance checks and issue resolution for boilers, turbines, pumps, and auxiliary systems.
- Prepare commissioning documentation and confirm compliance with technical as well as safety standards.
- Assist in transfer of knowledge and training for operations teams to help ensure an orderly plant handover and readiness for operation.
- Implement quality checks throughout mechanical work execution to ensure compliance with ISO requirements and internal standards.
- Use lessons learned to recommend better practices, design changes, or process improvements for future projects.
- Keep stakeholders, clients, and regulatory bodies updated on project progress, engineering issues, and their resolution.
- Draft and present technical updates, status reports, and risk assessments for senior leadership.
- Ensure mechanical project activities remain aligned with environmental rules and responsible, sustainable operating practices.
- Promote site safety through toolbox talks, safety audits, and participation in investigations related to mechanical work.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university or institute is required. A Master’s degree or a specialized postgraduate diploma in Thermal Engineering or Project Management will be considered an added advantage.
Experience Required
Candidates should have 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering roles within thermal power projects.
