Role Overview

This position seeks a driven and seasoned biologist to join the expanding Discovery Biology team. The role focuses on hands-on cell-based assay development to propel early drug discovery initiatives. The Associate Director will lead laboratory efforts and actively contribute to strategic biological research and execution across multiple programs.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead from the laboratory bench by directly conducting wet lab experiments to advance projects from hit identification through early discovery stages.
• Independently create, develop, and implement diverse cell-based assays to analyze G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) activity and signaling pathways.
• Work collaboratively across teams including computational biology, chemistry, and protein science to design and carry out innovative screening methodologies.
• Oversee project leadership and provide guidance and mentorship to junior scientific staff.
• Shape project and departmental strategies, aligning discovery biology efforts with pharmacology and translational science objectives.
• Consistently share updates and scientific results with program teams; present findings at internal meetings across the company.

Required Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Biology or a related discipline with a minimum of eight years of professional experience within the industry.
• Extensive hands-on expertise in developing, performing, and analyzing a wide range of cell-based assays and platforms, including functional assays, target engagement studies, kinetic analyses, plate-based assays, flow cytometry, and high content imaging techniques.
• Proven track record of successfully leading exploratory and early-stage discovery projects to critical decision milestones.
• Experience managing and mentoring junior scientists directly.
