Associate Director – Commercial – Rail

Role overview

Mace is expanding its rail offering in the Middle East and is looking for a senior commercial professional to help shape and deliver major transport programmes. The role sits within a growing regional capability that spans high-speed rail, conventional rail, metro systems, and complex station environments.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and implement contract documentation, including warranties, bonds, and licences, while securing the required approvals and compliance.
• Lead sizeable teams and create a performance-driven, accountable, and continuously improving environment aligned to key KPIs.
• Manage valuations to support strong cost control, accurate reporting, and reliable financial oversight.
• Produce and present monthly post-contract cost reports that give stakeholders clear commercial and financial visibility.
• Review the cost consequences of design revisions, contract awards, construction progress, and client-driven changes.
• Assess contractor and subcontractor claims related to delay and additional expense, working toward fair and accurate outcomes.
• Oversee certification through practical completion, defect correction, and final completion to support formal close-out.
• Improve cost management processes, tools, and good practice while also contributing to sustainability goals, including net zero carbon initiatives.

Candidate profile

The ideal candidate brings substantial experience on major rail or infrastructure programmes and is comfortable working in demanding, fast-moving delivery settings. A collaborative approach and a strong commitment to quality are also important.
