The Cyber Security Consulting team at KPMG operates in a dynamic and ever-evolving environment, offering comprehensive services to help clients manage and counter cyber threats.
Key Service Areas
- Strategy and governance: including cyber maturity assessments, third-party risk services, Virtual CISO on Demand, compliance assessments such as PCI DSS, ISO 27001, SOC 2, development of security strategies and frameworks, privacy assessments, and security metrics/reporting.
- Transformation: encompassing security program implementation, security architecture design and evaluation, identity and access management, Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC), and security operations.
- Cyber defence: providing penetration testing, vulnerability assessments, controls reviews, cloud security services, disaster recovery and business continuity planning, insider threat management, security analytics, and IoT security.
- Cyber response: delivering threat hunting, cyber response maturity assessments, incident response, and threat intelligence.
Role Overview
As an Assistant Manager or Manager within the cyber security team, you will oversee client engagements to identify, evaluate, and address digital, cyber, and AI-related risks. This involves assessing clients’ business strategies and technology environments, followed by offering actionable recommendations to enhance their cyber resilience. The role spans multiple industries and focuses on advising clients on governance, risk and compliance (GRC), control design, and practical technical solutions that foster digital trust and responsible use of emerging technologies. Prior experience in Big4 consulting or professional services is highly advantageous.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and deliver a variety of cyber security projects including maturity assessments, technology risk evaluations, offensive security engagements, third-party risk assessments, and control effectiveness analyses.
- Collaborate effectively with both internal teams and external clients, developing strong working relationships with specialists across consulting teams.
- Contribute to client proposal development and support the growth of team capabilities.
- Maintain KPMG’s high standards through quality work, expert judgement, and innovation.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, working efficiently while ensuring meticulous attention to detail.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of 6 years professional experience, including at least 3 years in cyber security roles.
- Expertise in one or more cyber security domains such as Strategy and Governance, Cyber Security Assurance, Third Party Risk, Offensive Security, MDR/EDR, DFIR, Resilience and Continuity, or Identity management.
- Demonstrated client-facing experience within cyber security.
- Proven ability to mentor and develop junior team members.
- Practical involvement in enhancing organisations’ cyber security maturity.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and industry certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CRISC, ISO/IEC 42001, ISO/IEC 27001), including vendor-specific accreditations.
- Experience managing stakeholder expectations and collaborating across service lines and technical teams.
