Role Overview

The Assistant in Nursing position involves delivering personalized, quality care to people with disabilities. Your focus will be supporting clients in achieving their personal goals and empowering their independence and lifestyle choices within a group home environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure clients enjoy a safe, respectful, and pleasant environment.
• Provide personal care including grooming, toileting, meal preparation, home support, transport, and medication administration.
• Assist clients with physical and communication aids and other equipment as needed.
• Support clients' engagement with their interests, hobbies, and relationships in the community.
• Facilitate access to recreational and transport services such as public transport, taxis, and Achieve Australia vehicles.
• Advocate for clients and their families to promote community involvement.
• Maintain client documentation such as case notes, updates to client management systems, communication records, and medical forms.

Candidate Requirements

• Relevant qualification—for example, Certificate III in Disability or Individual Support.
• Excellent interpersonal, role modelling, and customer service capabilities.
• Strong problem-solving skills with adaptability to changing conditions.
• Understanding of the NDIS framework, Code of Conduct, and workplace health and safety standards.
• Awareness of human rights issues and challenges affecting people with disabilities.
• Ability to transport clients safely in automatic transmission vehicles; NSW driver's license preferred but candidates without will undergo a risk assessment.
• Experience supporting adults or children with complex disabilities.
