Role Overview
The Assistant Director of Investigations is entrusted with ensuring that investigative processes are thorough, reliable, and effectively executed. This position is responsible for upholding fairness and appropriateness in penalties applied for breaches of legislations, regulations, or codes overseen by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), supporting the growth of a dynamic and globally competent Infocomm Media sector that strengthens the economy, community bonds, and national smart initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain stringent investigation standards across all cases to guarantee fairness and uniformity.
- Recommend penalties that are impartial, consistent, and proportionate to the violations by licensees or other parties.
- Ensure timely and accurate management of case investigations, data recording, and collections, meeting established service standards.
- Lead and mentor a team skilled in digital forensic techniques.
- Facilitate officers' acquisition of relevant certifications and expertise to effectively use forensic tools, hardware, and software for archival, extraction, analysis, and retrieval of deleted digital information that holds up in legal scrutiny.
- Standardize digital forensic methodologies, processes, and workflows in line with industry best practices and current standards.
- Prepare the investigation unit to adapt and respond to evolving legislative and technological changes.
- Optimize the case management system to reduce resource usage in case tracking and enhance coordination with internal IMDA divisions and external agencies.
- Design and implement protocols and processes for handling major unforeseen events with clear reporting structures.
Candidate Profile and Requirements
- Possess 10 to 15 years of experience leading investigations within law enforcement or government regulatory environments.
- In-depth knowledge of investigation and enforcement methods, including court prosecution procedures.
- Proven expertise in digital forensics capabilities.
- Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, complemented by a proactive and positive attitude.
- Demonstrate integrity, responsibility, and honesty in professional conduct.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work collaboratively as a team member and leader.
- Exhibit accountability and dedication to consistently producing high-quality work.
- Attention to detail combined with efficiency and promptness in task completion.
- Ability to take initiative in developing practical solutions to challenges encountered.
