The Role Overview

The Art Director serves as the creative driving force behind all visual and copy assets at HART. This position is responsible for producing designs and written content across multiple platforms including email marketing, social media graphics, printed materials, retail signage, event collateral, photography, and more. Working closely with the Senior Brand Manager and the Chief Creative Officer, the Art Director transforms brand strategy into cohesive and polished deliverables, ensuring brand consistency at every consumer touchpoint.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build email templates, campaigns, flows, and one-off sends using Klaviyo.
  • Create printed and digital collateral such as packaging inserts, event signage, product packaging, wholesale materials, and retail point-of-sale displays.
  • Collaborate with the Content Manager to develop paid digital advertising assets aligned with campaign objectives, focusing on template creation.
  • Maintain and update HART's design templates and manage the asset library within platforms like Canva and Dropbox, ensuring organization and version control.
  • Write and proofread copy for emails, product descriptions, store signage, event materials, and website content, preserving consistent brand voice.
  • Work with the Senior Brand Manager on campaign copywriting and seasonal storytelling initiatives.
  • Coordinate campaign schedules, creative requests, priorities, and deadlines under the guidance of the Senior Brand Manager.
  • Manage relationships and briefs for freelance photographers, videographers, and other external vendors.
  • Lead the planning and execution of photoshoots including visual direction, preparation of assets, shot lists, styling, talent coordination, production teams, and post-production, collaborating closely with the Content Manager.
  • Ensure final creative assets meet HART’s brand standards prior to distribution.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 3 to 5 years of design experience in-house or within agencies, preferably at consumer-focused brands.
  • Proficient with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), and Figma.
  • Experience designing email campaigns and templates in Klaviyo or similar platforms.
  • Strong understanding of print production processes including file specifications, bleeds, and vendor coordination.
  • Sharp copywriting and proofreading skills with a keen sense for maintaining brand voice.
  • Ability to work quickly without compromising quality, handling tight deadlines efficiently.
  • A humble attitude towards collaboration, able to execute others' creative visions thoughtfully.
  • Refined aesthetic judgment and attention to detail, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with minimal process constraints.

Preferred Experience

  • Background in fashion, accessories, or lifestyle brand environments.

This is a full-time position based at HART’s headquarters in Charleston, South Carolina. After the initial 30-day period, a hybrid work model is offered allowing up to one and a half days per week remotely.
