Role Overview
The Area Sales Manager for Passenger Vehicles will play a vital role in achieving sales targets and market expansion within a designated region by closely collaborating with dealerships and the OEM sales team. This position emphasizes enhancing retail sales performance, dealer coordination, adherence to sales procedures, market analysis, and executing strategic business projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive retail sales targets and support dealerships in generating leads, managing inquiries, and converting sales effectively.
- Regularly monitor and report dealership sales performance to the supervisor.
- Implement sales strategies and business plans to boost regional performance.
- Maintain consistent engagement with sales personnel and management at dealership levels to promote sales protocols and marketing efforts.
- Conduct routine visits to dealerships to evaluate performance and identify growth opportunities.
- Communicate company programs, offers, and campaigns promptly to dealers.
- Identify methods to broaden market reach and accelerate retail sales growth.
- Assist with local marketing events, product promotions, and customer engagement activities.
- Track market dynamics and customer preferences within the assigned territory.
- Maintain sales operation metrics, including retail, bookings, inquiries, and test drives, along with detailed reporting and forecasting.
- Promote exemplary customer experiences through dealership support and facilitate resolution of sales-related customer issues.
- Monitor competitor strategies, new launches, pricing updates, and promotional activities while gathering valuable market feedback.
Qualifications and Experience
- Graduate degree in any discipline is mandatory.
- MBA or PGDM in Sales & Marketing is preferable but not essential.
- 3 to 7 years of relevant experience in automotive sales, channel sales, dealership management, or related sectors is required.
- Exposure to passenger vehicles, two-wheelers, commercial vehicles, consumer durables, FMCG, or channel sales is valued.
- Experience in handling dealers adds an advantage.
Essential Skills and Attributes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Strong capabilities in managing relationships.
- Good understanding of dealer operations and retail sales processes.
- Analytical skills to evaluate sales data and discover growth opportunities.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and reporting tools.
- Self-motivated, able to operate effectively in field-based roles.
- Willingness to undertake extensive travel within the designated territory.
