About Wingates
Wingates is a multidisciplinary design firm established in 2004 with studios located in Auckland, Hamilton, and Tauranga. Role Overview
This full-time, on-site role in Tauranga involves leading and contributing to architectural projects across workplace, commercial, residential, and other sectors. Responsibilities include developing concepts, preparing drawings and specifications, coordinating with consultants, and ensuring compliance with codes and standards. The Architect will engage with clients and internal teams to address user needs, refine design solutions, and help deliver projects within schedule and budget. Additional duties include attending project meetings, supporting construction phases, and promoting resilient, equitable, and community-oriented design outcomes.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Strong expertise in architecture and design across varied project types.
- Ability to generate business by targeting specific sectors and clients.
- Skilled in project coordination and management, including scheduling, resource allocation, and stakeholder engagement.
- Knowledge of integrating architectural design with building systems, consultants' input, and regulatory frameworks.
- A relevant tertiary architecture qualification and eligibility or progress toward professional registration.
- Proficiency in industry-standard design tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, BIM software, and presentation platforms.
- Familiarity with local building codes, consenting procedures, and best practices promoting sustainability and human-centered design.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving capabilities for multidisciplinary teamwork.
- Experience practicing in New Zealand and understanding of Te Ao Māori and local context is beneficial.
