Analytical Chemist

About the Role

The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is seeking an Analytical Chemist to join The Abimael Laboratory of Neurometabolism and the Neurometabolomics & Neuroinformatics Core. This role is geared towards driven scientists with expertise in metabolomics, lipidomics, and/or proteomics, eager to contribute to cutting-edge research in neuroscience, neurodegeneration, metabolic disorders, and spatial biology.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, validate, and implement mass spectrometry–based analytical procedures.
• Prepare samples and conduct LC–MS/GC–MS data acquisition and quality assurance.
• Process, analyze, and interpret experimental data accurately.
• Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams to support innovative scientific endeavors.
• Engage with emerging technologies such as stable-isotope tracing and spatial metabolomics platforms.

Candidate Qualifications

• Possess a PhD, master's degree, or commensurate experience in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, metabolomics, or related disciplines.
• Demonstrate practical experience with mass spectrometry techniques in metabolomics, lipidomics, and/or proteomics.
• Be well-versed in LC–MS, GC–MS methodologies, development of analytical methods, and data interpretation techniques.
• Exhibit strong organizational capabilities, scientific curiosity, and effective teamwork in cross-disciplinary settings.

Additional Information
