About the Company
Neptune Pacific is in a significant phase of change and expansion. Formed in 2020 after acquiring Pacific Direct Line, the organisation combines two major South Pacific shipping and logistics providers to deliver end-to-end supply chain services across the region. Role Overview
This position is suited to a commercially minded analyst who enjoys working with data, improving processes, and using insights to influence business performance. The role is permanent and based in Auckland, New Zealand.
Core Focus Areas
You will support operational and financial activities with an emphasis on accurate reporting, cost visibility, and ongoing improvements. The work spans cost management, reporting, data quality, and efficiency initiatives.
Key Duties
- Review supplier invoices and cost recharges, then reconcile them against expected charges.
- Check that costs match agreed contract rates and correct cost categories.
- Spot anomalies, discrepancies, and spend variances.
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
- Monitor expense patterns and help identify ways to reduce or optimise costs.
- Support monthly profit and loss reporting and explain variances.
- Help with budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Track key cost drivers and broader financial trends.
- Provide insights into risks and opportunities affecting performance.
- Maintain reliable operational and cost data.
- Prepare recurring KPI and cost reports.
- Assist with dashboards and reporting systems.
- Contribute to data standardisation and process documentation.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and save costs.
- Support automation and process-improvement projects.
- Turn analysis into practical recommendations that strengthen business results.
What You Should Bring
- 1 to 3 years of experience in an analytical, finance, or operations-focused position.
- A business, finance, or related qualification is preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong capability in analysis and problem solving.
- Intermediate-level Excel knowledge; exposure to Power BI is an advantage.
- Understanding of financial reporting and cost structures.
- Excellent attention to detail and solid organisational ability.
- Confidence in communicating with different stakeholders.
- A curious, proactive mindset and willingness to work collaboratively.
- A can-do attitude, strong work ethic, and drive to succeed.
Training and Growth
This opportunity offers exposure to commercial operations, reporting, and performance analysis, along with learning and development support. Training will be provided to the right person.
