AI / Machine Learning Engineer

About the Role

Apogee Global RMS seeks a skilled AI / Machine Learning Engineer to join our team in Piscataway, New Jersey. This position centers on creating, developing, and implementing state-of-the-art AI and computer vision technologies aimed at enhancing identity verification, security systems, automation, and digital trust frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement AI/ML models focused on computer vision tasks including image classification, object detection, OCR, and feature extraction.
• Develop solutions for real-time image quality evaluation, data processing, and intelligent document capture.
• Construct and maintain data pipelines encompassing collection, labeling, cleansing, and augmentation processes.
• Optimize machine learning models to operate efficiently on cloud platforms as well as mobile and on-device environments.
• Develop AI systems for fraud and anomaly detection along with other security-related features.
• Integrate machine learning models into production-grade APIs and software ecosystems.
• Continuously monitor and refine model accuracy, scalability, and performance.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, product management, and business units to deliver impactful AI-based solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in fields such as Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 3 years designing and deploying machine learning models in live production settings.
• Proficiency in Python programming and experience with ML frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Hands-on expertise using computer vision libraries such as OpenCV and familiarity with OCR technologies.
• Deep understanding of neural network architectures for image and text recognition purposes.
• Experience working with cloud service providers including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities capable of performing under dynamic, fast-paced conditions.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of techniques for optimizing and quantizing models for deployment on mobile devices.
• Experience with synthetic data production and data augmentation strategies.
• Background in security-oriented AI applications like fraud/anomaly detection and identity verification technologies.
• Awareness of data privacy regulations and compliance frameworks.
• Contributions to open-source AI tools or participation in AI research projects.
