Job Overview
Based at Brindley Park Farming near Roma, Queensland, the Agricultural Technician role operates within a collaborative team setting. The position involves performing a variety of farming tasks safely and effectively, adhering to seasonal requirements, and assisting the farm manager with expert guidance on land management, strategic planning, and execution to optimize the growth and harvesting of forage crops.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate modern, purpose-built farming machinery and equipment safely and effectively.
- Manage the handling, usage, and storage of agricultural chemicals in a safe manner.
- Perform routine servicing and maintenance of farm machinery and equipment.
- Capture data and maintain accurate records using appropriate systems and technologies.
- Monitor environmental factors such as weather, soil, and seasonal conditions and report findings to the farm manager.
- Identify weeds and pests and collaborate with management to develop and implement control strategies.
- Engage in consultation and communication with agronomists for expert advice.
Candidate Profile
The successful applicant will have either an AQF Advanced Diploma or equivalent qualification, or a minimum of three years practical experience in farming or cropping. They will be a motivated and positive team player demonstrating:
- Competence in operating a range of farming machinery, plant, and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Strong knowledge of pasture management, soil characteristics, and land management practices.
- Hands-on experience in planting, fertilizing, harvesting, and processing techniques aimed at maximizing production results.
- The ability to identify, manage, and eradicate pests and weeds effectively.
- Good numeracy and literacy skills.
- An understanding and respect for quality and compliance standards, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Comfort and proficiency with computer use and keyboarding.
