Overview
The Advisor I - Road Safety will be responsible for promoting and ensuring road safety across operations, primarily focusing on driver training, safety risk assessments, and effective use of vehicle monitoring systems. The role involves audits, development of traffic management plans, journey management systems, and emergency response planning specific to road and transport safety.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Organize and conduct road safety awareness sessions and campaigns, ensuring all drivers complete mandatory training programs.
- Perform road safety risk assessments and establish proper safety measures to mitigate risks.
- Monitor and maintain the In-Vehicle Monitoring System (IVMS), analyze driver behavior reports, and prepare safety performance documentation.
- Regularly inspect vehicles and equipment to verify compliance with manufacturer guidelines and company policies.
- Conduct road safety audits to ensure compliance with Petrofac and client safety standards.
- Create and implement a Site Traffic Management Plan to protect workers by segregating pedestrian and vehicle zones.
- Develop and oversee an effective Journey Management system to enhance travel safety.
- Formulate site-specific Emergency Response Plans for incidents related to driving and participate in incident investigations.
Qualifications and Experience
- A graduate degree is required.
- Certification such as NEBOSH GC/IGC, IOSH, or other recognized safety qualifications.
- Proficiency with IVMS software is essential.
- Additional health, safety, and environmental training or certifications are a plus.
- Between 1 and 2 years managing and implementing road safety practices, including analyzing IVMS data and reports.
- At least 2 to 4 years of overall industry experience.
Skills and Competencies
- Possession of a valid UAE driving license.
- Capability to deliver HSE and transport safety orientations and inductions.
- Experience conducting safety awareness sessions for workers.
- Familiarity with journey management planning and H2S & breathing apparatus awareness where applicable.
- Competence in performing transport safety and road safety risk assessments.
- Ability to inspect vehicles with in-depth knowledge of safety devices.
- Understanding and implementation of transport emergency response protocols.
- Proficient in developing training materials, maintaining safety databases, and generating reports from IVMS or similar systems.
- Effective communication skills in English, including speaking, reading, and writing.
