Job description
Position Summary
This role is a vital member of the accounting team responsible for applying accounting principles to address complex accounting challenges. Core duties include supporting month-end close processes, analyzing financial data, and preparing comprehensive financial reports utilizing QuickBooks Manufacturing Edition. The role demands strong organizational skills, attention to detail, competency in Excel, and the ability to manage and manipulate extensive databases.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute cost accounting and utility costing across the company.
- Conduct account reconciliations as delegated by management.
- Manage accounts related to work in progress, inventory, cost of sales, and other cost accounting ledgers.
- Process various journal entries including payroll accruals and actuals, accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections, purchasing, and inventory.
- Generate management reports concerning cost accounting and inventory status.
- Identify and apply process enhancements to improve efficiency.
- Monitor and enforce adherence to internal controls and compliance with departmental, client, and vendor protocols.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors by providing required data and reports promptly.
- Assist with administrative duties as needed.
- Provide accounting policy training for new employees.
Job Relations
- Reports directly to the CEO, President, and VP.
- Maintains collaborative and professional relationships with payers, vendors, and providers.
Additional Duties
- Prepare journal entries daily, weekly, and monthly.
- Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Review and assess monthly financial statements.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Prepare governmental reports such as monthly and quarterly sales and use tax filings.
- Collaborate with team members and provide backup support during absences.
- Suggest system and workflow improvements.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent professional experience.
- Preferably 5 to 7 years’ experience in accounting, especially general accounting roles.
- Proficient in financial accounting with strong problem-solving and organizational capabilities.
- Experience with standard cost accounting within a manufacturing setting.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical thinking.
- Strong critical thinking, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and communicate effectively across all management levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
- Demonstrates initiative, adaptability, focus, and strong work ethic.
- Consistent attendance and reliability are essential.
Physical Requirements
The role involves moderate physical demands, including occasional lifting of items weighing 20 to 30 pounds. Normal vision (correctable) and adequate hearing are necessary to follow instructions and use telephones. Manual dexterity for keyboard and office equipment operation is required. Successful completion of drug and background screening is mandatory.
