Role overview
Hamilton Lumber Co is hiring a full-time Yard and Warehouse Associate to support its lumber and building materials operations in St John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. The role focuses on helping customers load their orders, keeping the yard and warehouse organized, and delivering friendly, dependable service.
The company is a long-established, family-owned business with a strong financial foundation and a history spanning more than a century. It was recognized as a 2021 Lumber and Building Material Dealer of the Year.
Key duties
- Pick requested products and get them ready for customer pickup.
- Use a sit-down rider forklift safely and keep forklift certification current.
- Support the loading and unloading of trucks while providing general help and customer assistance.
- Help customers with truck rentals by explaining pricing, sharing information about rental items, and receiving vehicles or items back during returns.
- Load box trucks and drive them when needed.
- Report yard or warehouse problems to the Operations Supervisor.
- Operate company equipment safely and help keep the yard and warehouse clean and orderly.
- Follow yard safety rules, including posted speed limits and related guidelines.
- Be prepared to work outdoors in changing temperatures and weather conditions.
- Carry out other assigned tasks as needed.
Candidate profile
- High school diploma or an equivalent level of experience.
- Background in lumber, building materials, or warehouse work is an advantage.
- Strong work ethic and a genuine interest in personal and professional growth.
- Customer service must be a priority.
- Good communication skills for working with teammates.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and, with assistance, up to 100 pounds.
- Prior forklift experience is required.
