Role Overview
This entry-level position is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and upkeep of mill premises and equipment. Tasks involve using cleaning tools such as brooms and mops, managing spills, and occasionally working at elevated heights, including climbing ladders and catwalks. A valid driver’s license is required, along with a commitment to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform cleaning duties using brooms, mops, and various cleaning agents efficiently.
- Work safely at heights when necessary, utilizing ladders and catwalks.
- Wear required personal protective equipment throughout the shift, including hearing protection, eye protection, hard hats, and safety shoes.
- Attend mandatory yearly safety training sessions.
- Clean up work areas after tasks or in case of spills.
- Report any irregularities or issues within the department to supervisors promptly.
Experience and Education
- Prior mechanical or welding experience is preferred but not mandatory.
- Must possess a GED or high school diploma.
Essential Skills and Attributes
- Ability to read and identify product details and distinguish between similar items.
- Available to work rotating shifts, including weekends, and has reliable transportation.
- Strong awareness of industrial safety standards and practices.
- Flexibility to work overtime or any shift hours as needed.
- Maintains good hygiene and dependable attendance.
- Works well in a team environment, demonstrates initiative, and is eager to learn and succeed.
- Physically capable of performing labor-intensive tasks such as standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Basic English reading and writing skills.
