Overview
The Training Coordinator is responsible for organizing, delivering, and reviewing training and development initiatives associated with conferences and seminars, primarily in the law enforcement sector. This role involves managing schedules for training facilities, overseeing registrations, coordinating resources and instructors, and ensuring the thorough documentation of training activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage coordination and scheduling of training facilities, conference registrations, resources, exhibitors, and instructors.
- Offer technical and administrative support to agencies related to executive leadership, development, and training.
- Identify, recruit, and oversee subject matter experts who develop curricular and instructional material.
- Communicate effectively with varied audiences to clarify information about training programs, policies, and procedures.
- Mentor new instructors to maintain a skilled, ongoing pool of training personnel for programs and events.
- Participate in committee planning and network with law enforcement trainers regionally and nationally.
- Maintain and update Georgia POST training records and ensure proper documentation of training activities.
- Assist with additional functions as assigned by the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police.
- Evaluate training session effectiveness and make recommendations for content and delivery improvements.
- Ensure logistical planning meets deadlines and class capacities for training events.

- Principles and methods of training and instructional strategies.
- Record keeping and managing training resources and programs.
- Adult learning principles and current training and development trends.
- Program and project management techniques.
- Fair use principles, copyright rules related to training materials.
- Continuing education requirements for certifications or mandates.
- Conference planning and scheduling expertise.
- Proficiency with mobile applications, databases, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Planner, Outlook).
- Ability to operate audiovisual and teleconferencing equipment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills for diverse interactions.
Education & Experience
A Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Criminal Justice, Business, Communications, Education/Adult Learning, or a related field is preferred. Alternatively, candidates can offer an equivalent combination of education and five years' experience in training, facilitation, or a comparable role. A valid Georgia Driver's License is required. Georgia POST Instructor Certification and Basic Law Enforcement Certification are favorable but not mandatory.
Physical Requirements & Travel
The role demands physical activities including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, typing, and repetitive motions. It involves light work, occasionally requiring up to 20 pounds of force. Frequent in-state travel and occasional out-of-state travel are required.
Salary & Benefits
The compensation range is $70,000 to $82,000 annually, depending on qualifications. Benefits include a Qualified Small Employer HRA plan, 401/457 retirement plans, paid vacation, holidays, and sick leave.
