About the Company
HI-Q, founded in 2004, is a medium-sized structural steel detailing firm with a skilled team of engineers and detailers specializing in Structural Steel Detailing, Connection Design, Piping Detailing, Miscellaneous Steel Detailing including stairs, ladders, handrails, and plate work. The company is expanding into Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) structures focusing on light steel frameworks. Their project portfolio ranges from small to large-scale assignments for both domestic and international customers.
Job Role and Responsibilities
The Tekla Modeller will be responsible for developing and creating detailed models based on client requirements, engineering constraints, and project specifications. The key duties include studying and interpreting project documents and structural drawings, preparing shop drawing models for structural steel fabrication, and modeling in accordance with both structural and architectural plans. The role involves raising Requests for Information (RFIs) where necessary, editing templates, preparing custom components, and applying connection details within models. The modeller will share responsibility for project delivery alongside team members, ensuring timely completion without compromising service quality. Adherence to QA/QC procedures and ISO documentation standards is expected. Additionally, monitoring and reporting on junior staff, producing client reports, maintaining team coordination, and providing training or mentoring to junior colleagues if required are part of the position.
Qualifications and Required Skills
Candidates must hold a BE, B.Tech, or Diploma in Mechanical or Civil Engineering. Prior experience in Structural Steel Detailing using 3D modeling software is necessary, with proficiency in Tekla Structures highly preferred. Familiarity with US Commercial Projects and understanding of American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) and Canadian Institute of Steel Construction (CISC) standards is required. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities and strong analytical skills are essential for success in this role.
