Technician, Electrical Maintenance

Job purpose

This role is focused on keeping plant electrical assets available and dependable through preventive, corrective, and troubleshooting maintenance, along with testing of electrical equipment across the facility.

Key maintenance duties

• Safely isolate and re-energize low-voltage and high-voltage motors, UPS systems, transformers, generators, and other electrical circuits in line with the company’s authorized enabling certificate, while carrying out skilled fault-finding, diagnosis, and troubleshooting for both high- and low-voltage equipment.
• Receive and finish the electrical isolation confirmation certificate to close out the activity properly.
• Locate the required spare parts and tools needed to complete maintenance work.
• Perform routine, predictive, and preventive checks on electrical assets, including visual inspections, to keep equipment operating efficiently.
• Carry out new installations, modifications, and testing through the required stages according to the plan and supervisor instructions, while following all applicable parameters.
• Spot improvement opportunities in day-to-day tasks and support senior team members in implementing modifications and system enhancements.
• Review completed maintenance work and fill in the maintenance activity sheet or survey to confirm the task was completed as required.
• Maintain system records for work order failure history reporting, contribute to method statement preparation, and raise near-miss reports when needed.
• Keep electrical drawings, records, and related documents updated to support ongoing availability and traceability.

General responsibilities

• Follow all relevant functional policies, procedures, systems, standards, and controls to meet operational goals.
• Provide on-the-job training to support competency-based training programs for UAE nationalization.
• Look after all tools, safety equipment, and protective gear issued by the company and keep them in usable condition.
• Arrange repair or replacement for any tools or safety gear that are not fit for use.
• Complete maintenance tasks within the assigned time standards and inform the Maintenance Supervisor when extra resources are needed to finish within the target timeframe.
• Contribute ideas for continuous improvement in operating practices, process modifications, machinery, and equipment.
• Comply with all applicable HSE policies, procedures, controls, legislation, sustainability guidelines, international standards, best practices, and the ADNOC Code of Practices.
• Take part in emergency response activities as part of the team.
• Keep the work area clean and orderly before, during, and after the job in accordance with housekeeping and hygiene standards.
• Gather technical field data as required and support the preparation of section progress reports for management.

Working relationships

The position involves coordination with line managers, peers, and other employees within the company or group, as well as with external consultants, third-party service providers, and government agencies when necessary.

Qualification and experience

A diploma in Electrical discipline, or a Secondary School Certificate combined with a vocational trade certificate in the relevant field, is required. The role calls for 4 years of experience maintaining electrical equipment in a large industrial plant, preferably in the oil and gas sector.

Work conditions and other details

This position is part of the Maintenance / Maintenance Execution job family. The physical effort involved is minimal. The work environment is generally air-conditioned, although occasional site visits may involve exposure to heat, humidity, and dust. Revenue and budget responsibility is as per the approved financial budget. Direct and indirect reporting lines are as per the organization chart. Professional certifications are applicable as required.
