Technical Translator

Job Overview

WSP is looking to hire an experienced Technical Translator based in Jeddah to provide precise and high-quality Arabic-English translation services focused on technical, engineering, infrastructure, and project documentation. This role demands strong linguistic aptitude, meticulous attention to detail, and a background supporting extensive engineering and construction projects within consultancy settings.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Converting technical, engineering, contractual, and project-specific documents from Arabic to English and vice versa.
• Reviewing and proofreading translations to guarantee accuracy, consistency, and alignment with project-specific terminology.
• Translating various materials including reports, specifications, correspondence, meeting minutes, presentations, policies, and procedures.
• Providing interpretation and linguistic support during meetings and workshops when needed.
• Ensuring uniformity in technical terminology throughout all project documents.
• Collaborating with engineers, project managers, and technical experts to ensure translations reflect true technical intent.
• Maintaining strict confidentiality and secure handling of sensitive project-related data.
• Assisting in creating bilingual communications aimed at clients, stakeholders, and governmental bodies.
• Developing and updating translation glossaries and maintaining terminology databases.
• Supporting document control and administrative functions for the project teams as necessary.

Qualifications and Experience

• Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Translation, Languages, Linguistics, or a related field.
• At least 5 to 8 years of professional experience in translation services.
• Native-level proficiency in Arabic combined with excellent English language skills, both spoken and written.
• Demonstrable experience translating technical and engineering content.
• Previous work exposure in engineering consultancy, construction, infrastructure, or project management sectors.
• In-depth understanding of technical language related to infrastructure, transportation, utilities, and construction projects.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite and professional translation software tools.
• Strong organizational skills and acute attention to detail.
• Capability to handle multiple projects concurrently while meeting tight deadlines.
• Experience working in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region is an advantage.
