Role Overview
As a Technical Product Manager, you will lead the strategic retirement, remediation, and migration of legacy applications within a large-scale payments modernization program. You will collaborate closely with engineering teams to plan and execute a smooth transition to a robust and well-managed system supporting a major payments platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the roadmap for retiring legacy applications across several workstreams within the payments initiative.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to define technical requirements and prioritize migration and remediation efforts.
- Maintain comprehensive records of application inventories and their statuses, proactively identifying potential risks.
- Coordinate migration activities to new infrastructure, managing timelines and team dependencies.
- Convert business and compliance needs into precise, actionable technical tasks.
- Facilitate backlog grooming, sprint planning, and other Agile delivery ceremonies.
- Align priorities and reconcile trade-offs among business stakeholders, technical teams, and compliance groups.
- Provide data-driven progress reports and risk assessments to program leadership.
- Seek opportunities to streamline and accelerate the legacy system retirement process.
Qualifications
- At least 5 years’ experience as a Product Manager or Technical Product Manager, preferably with infrastructure, migration, or modernization projects.
- Proven track record managing application retirement, remediation, or platform migration initiatives.
- Ability to work directly with engineers to shape technical scope and sequence effectively.
- Experience with payments systems or within financial technology environments.
- Familiar with Agile methodologies, including backlog management and sprint-related activities.
- Strong stakeholder management capabilities, adept at uniting technical and business interests.
- Knowledge of cloud infrastructure migrations, with AWS experience favored.
- Excellent communication skills to simplify technical complexities for varied audiences and efficiently manage multiple moving pieces.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree required. Candidates without a degree must demonstrate three years of specialized training or progressively responsible work experience in technology for each year of college missed, in addition to the minimum required experience.
