About the Role

We are seeking resilient, compassionate Support Workers who can provide assistance to individuals with complex behavioural needs. This role involves helping people manage emotions, ensure safety, and foster personal growth. Support Workers must be prepared to stand alongside individuals during challenging times, empowered by complete training and a supportive team.

Key Responsibilities

• Promote independence by helping individuals develop daily living skills such as using public transport and cooking meals.
• Assist with personal care including showering, dressing, medication management, and maintaining their living environment.
• Encourage participation in hobbies, personal interests, and goal achievement.
• Support health and well-being by promoting healthy lifestyle choices tailored to each person's needs.
• Provide calm and consistent support for complex behaviours, employing positive behavioural approaches while upholding dignity, respect, and safety.
• Facilitate connections with whānau and community to build and strengthen relationships.

Candidate Attributes

• Life experience with the ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
• Confidence and resilience when engaging with challenging behaviours.
• Physical fitness suitable for demanding situations.
• Open-mindedness and non-judgmental attitude toward working with diverse individuals.
• Competence in using computers and tablets regularly.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Possession of a full New Zealand driver's license.

Additional Information

• The position offers both full and part-time opportunities.
• Flexible availability is required to cover varying rostered shifts, including mornings, evenings, overnight sleepovers, and weekends.
• Due to the privacy and needs of the person supported, this particular role requires male Support Workers.
• Hourly wage ranges from $24.68 to $30.13 depending on related qualifications.
• Employee support includes pathways to complete Level 2, 3, and 4 Certificates in Health and Wellbeing.
