Job description
Role Overview
The Supply Chain & Project Logistics Coordinator is tasked primarily with reducing transportation expenses while enhancing delivery precision and customer service. This role requires coordination with various departments—DSCM, Design, Project Management, Operations, and Warehouse—to plan, estimate, price, and manage shipping routes to meet project demands.
Key Duties
- Participate in planning sessions and forecasts for project bids.
- Establish and maintain strategic communications with suppliers to confirm order receipt and timely shipment.
- Review purchase orders against supplier proforma invoices to monitor timely shipments and control transportation costs.
- Maintain ongoing, clear communication with freight forwarders to secure optimal port pairings aligning with project schedules.
- Ensure bookings of shipments are executed correctly and are approved.
- Monitor transportation efficiency to match company objectives.
- Continuously liaise with vendors and shipping companies during transport to safeguard delivery timelines.
- Enter new product details into ERP and Project Management dashboards, including delivery dates, substitutions, and pricing.
- Inform Project Management and Procurement promptly if crucial equipment deliveries are delayed.
- Coordinate product and inventory updates with Warehouse and Operations Managers.
- Engage domestic transportation providers for rate quotes and manage dispatches to project sites.
- Collaborate closely with DSCM to evaluate transportation vendor performance.
- Support receiving goods and tactical purchasing when needed.
- Attend scheduled meetings or conference calls to report status updates.
- Fulfill additional responsibilities as directed by management.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of transportation experience with knowledge of both international and domestic freight modes.
- Strong numerical and logistics analysis skills able to assess freight characteristics effectively.
- Detail-focused with the ability to analyze problems and develop improved strategies.
- Professional demeanor with strong written and oral communication skills.
- Clear, decisive, and comprehensive communication style.
Technical Proficiencies
- Competent with Microsoft Office suite.
- Working knowledge of ERP software systems.
- Understanding of supply chain, inventory, and procurement processes.
Physical and Other Requirements
- Extended periods of sitting and computer work.
- Ability to lift weights of 15-20 pounds for sample handling and presentations.
- Willingness and ability to travel.
- Capability to walk, climb stairs, or stand for up to 45 minutes consecutively.
