This automation drastically reduces the manual effort that previously took hours or even days, enabling quicker mortgage funding. The platform is actively utilized by mortgage brokers and lenders nationwide in Canada, including several leading institutions, with expanding revenue and a robust project pipeline.

Role Overview

We seek a Software Engineer to become part of our core product team, managing significant parts of our platform end-to-end. This position demands ownership from problem scoping, coding, launching features, to monitoring performance metrics and maintaining your work. The technology stack includes Next.js, TypeScript, Node.js, and Postgres, deeply integrated with AI and large language models (LLMs). You will engage broadly with backend systems, database architecture, AI pipelines, and user interfaces for brokers and lenders.

Key Responsibilities

• Create complete features from concept to deployment, including data modeling, API development, UI implementation, testing, and ensuring system observability.
• Implement reliable AI-powered functionalities such as document classification, income extraction, suspicious pattern detection, and summarization with rigorous evaluation and fallback mechanisms.
• Design and maintain efficient, scalable Postgres schemas and queries, ensuring smooth database migrations and stability under load.
• Engage directly with customers including brokers and lenders to present updates, resolve issues, and gather insights to inform product development.
• Uphold high code quality standards through thorough reviews and proactively improve critical parts of the system.

Required Qualifications

• 3 to 7 years of professional experience developing and owning software features in production environments.
• Proficiency in TypeScript and familiarity with Next.js, server actions, API routes, and Node.js with strong runtime understanding.
• Expertise in Postgres including database schema design, complex query writing, and performance analysis using EXPLAIN plans.
• Practical experience deploying AI/LLM-based solutions in production, understanding evaluation metrics and handling model drift. Familiarity with tools like Vercel AI SDK or LangChain is advantageous.
• Capability to deploy, monitor, and troubleshoot production services independently.
• Effective communication skills for customer interactions and translating requirements into actionable roadmap items.
• An aesthetic sense for product design and a willingness to advocate for strong user experience.
• An AI-first approach to personal productivity using advanced AI tools and automation techniques.

This is a pivotal role within a growing company where your contributions will influence long-term product success. Compensation combines competitive cash salary with equity ownership. The position is based onsite in Calgary, Alberta, reporting directly to the CTO, Seb Hiscock.
