Role Overview
We are looking for passionate Early Career Software Engineers to join Notion and contribute to enhancing core user experiences. In this role, you will develop impactful features, face meaningful technical challenges, and collaborate closely with design, product, and data experts. You'll own projects that influence millions of users and help shape the future of AI-augmented collaborative work.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, and deploy product features from initial design to launch, iterating based on user feedback and data insights.
- Enhance the performance, stability, and quality of features used by millions across numerous organizations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conduct experiments aimed at improving user activation, retention, and overall engagement.
- Create internal tools and improve platform infrastructure to support rapid and safe software delivery.
- Promote and uphold coding standards, contribute to a culture focused on learning, and make thoughtful engineering decisions.
Potential Areas of Focus
- Core product development including editor features, databases, sharing capabilities, serving millions of workflows.
- AI and automation to introduce intelligent, efficient, and contextual functionalities.
- Growth initiatives to enhance onboarding and boost user engagement.
- Platform and backend infrastructure ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance for a growing user base.
Candidate Profile
- Less than two years of software engineering experience with strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
- Approach problems holistically and pragmatically with an understanding of the impact on real users.
- Pragmatic use of technology focused on delivering meaningful outcomes rather than following trends.
- Proactive communicator with high initiative, able to drive projects independently while collaborating effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with technologies such as React, TypeScript, Node.js, PostgreSQL, and Elasticsearch.
- An interest in the interplay between technology and society with a sense of responsibility as a technologist.
- Awareness of computing pioneers and their contributions.
Compensation and Equal Opportunity
This position offers highly competitive salary and equity packages based on factors including location and experience. For San Francisco-based roles, estimated salary ranges between $130,000 and $150,000 annually.
